A pull-up is used — then what? How do you discard it cleanly? The answer is often overlooked: a built-in disposal tape.

This article focuses on the disposal tape itself. (For the in-use hook fastener, see our separate article on hook fasteners.)

What a disposal tape is

A disposal tape is built into pull-up pants (training pants) and adult incontinence pants. It does nothing during use; its job happens *after* the product is used. The caregiver rolls the soiled pant up, wraps it with the disposal tape, secures it closed, then discards it — a hygienic, compact bundle that contains odor and makes disposal cleaner, and more eco-friendly, because a neatly rolled, securely taped pant is easier to handle and keeps the waste contained.

It is not the product's main closure. It is the post-use "roll-and-secure" strip.

Two layers, one job

A disposal tape is a CPP (cast polypropylene) backing coated with hotmelt pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). Every millimetre of its performance comes from these two layers working together: the film makes the wrap possible, the adhesive makes it hold.

The CPP backing: extensibility that makes the wrap work

When a caregiver peels the tape open and rolls the soiled pant up, the film must stretch and conform — it needs a degree of extensibility so it hugs the rolled bundle, holds tension, and stays intact without snapping or tearing. Too stiff and it cracks at the fold; too soft and it loses the tension that keeps the bundle closed. The right extensibility is what lets the strip wrap smoothly, tightly and completely in one motion.

The hotmelt PSA: the grip that keeps it closed

Once wrapped, the bundle fights back with spring force. The PSA must hold that force:

  • High shear. The PSA resists slip, keeping the bundle closed all the way to the bin.
  • Clean peel. On the converting line, it leaves low residue and no stringing, for smooth processing and high yield.
  • Skin-safe. A low-irritation, latex-free formulation stays safe even on incidental skin contact.
  • Single-stick design. One wrap to secure — no repeated opening needed.

VANTEC's disposal tape

VANTEC combines a CPP backing with a self-developed hotmelt PSA — and tunes the two together, because extensibility and adhesion only work as a pair. From adhesive formulation to coating, the process is fully in-house, which is exactly what gives us the confidence behind "holds tight yet peels clean."

Value for brands and users

A small strip solves the product's "last mile": a used pull-up no longer has to be awkward to throw away — it becomes a clean, compact, eco-friendly bundle. For the brand, visible care; for the user, real peace of mind.

*(VANTEC refers to the full range of personal-care closure components — hook fasteners and disposal tapes alike — under the umbrella term "closure solutions." This article focuses on the disposal tape.)*
